The Human Race Theatre Company is a professional theatre that works under a Small Professional Theatre Contract (SPT 6) and performs in The Loft Theatre, a 219-seat thrust stage.

Marsha Hanna, Artistic Director produces all non-musical properties.
Kevin Moore, Executive Director, produces all musical properties.

Wait Until Dark will be performed under a Letter of Agreement to LORT D Contract at The Victoria Theatre, a 1100-seat proscenium.

Rehearsals are primarily Monday – Friday evenings, and daytime on weekends.

Auditions are open to Non-Equity and Equity Actors (unless otherwise noted), with Non-Equity actors having the opportunity to join the Equity Membership Candidacy Program.

Procedures for auditions:

Plays only: Come prepared with 2 one-minute contrasting monologues.

Musicals only: Come prepared with 1 song. Bring your own music. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella singing or recorded music.

Both: Come prepared with 1 one-minute monologue and 1 song. Bring your own music. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella singing or recorded music.

NOTE on casting at The Human Race:
“From the general calls, I will select the actors to be invited to callback for the director of a specific show. We usually callback in Dayton first, then Chicago, then New York. If we cast from New York, it is by invitation only or through agent submission. Rarely do I callback an actor who has not attended a general call for the season of the production. I assume that if you do not audition, you do not wish to be considered. If you cannot attend a general call and wish to be considered, submit your updated resume and headshot with a note as to what show(s) interest you and, based on my deteriorating memory, I will consider you for inclusion in the callback. I will not be scheduling additional auditions”

2008-2009 Season Dates

To schedule your audition:

Appointment calls for Chicago Generals will be accepted at the AEA office the week before the audition date. Check the AEA website for additional info. Non-AEA friends in Chicago should call Tara to schedule an audition appointment.

Appointment calls for Dayton Generals will be accepted on and after April 28, 2008, Monday – Friday, between 9:30am – 4:30pm.
