Summer Stock KIDS is designed for children who wish to develop their acting skills in a creative environment which builds personal confidence and promotes teamwork. Our theatre director, Jene Rebbin Shaw, will challenge students to reach their potential through rigorous theatre exercises and rehearsal techniques, as they prepare for a performance to be shared with family and friends.
CHARLOTTE’S WEB is the play selection for this summer. It is the beloved tale of life on the farm where animals talk and share their amazing talents with one another. This play tells a story about belonging to a community (of animals) and the joys of friendship in light of present danger.
Jene Rebbin Shaw is delighted to be directing Summer Stock KIDS once again after two successful summer productions including THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE and STUART LITTLE. Jene has been the Adventures in Theatre instructor on Saturday mornings for The Human Race Theatre for the past six years. Jene has been teaching and directing theatre for the past eight years and has a loyal following of students who clamor to register for her classes. |

The Lovewell Experience: Everything Is Possible!
This summer, The Human Race joins forces with the nationally recognized Lovewell Institute to create a new experience for our summer teen program. The Lovewell Method is an arts education program designed to encourage and guide students through the process of creating an original musical theatre production. The themes, characters, plot, music, lyrics, design and dances in the production are generated directly from the imagination, experiences and craftsmanship of the students themselves. The Lovewell Method promotes creative problem solving, critical thinking and provides training in team building, organization and leadership, conflict resolution, and emotional intelligence.
Each session begins with students, a professional staff and a blank slate. The staff guides the students through the rough waters of bringing order out of chaos.
The staff will include three Lovewell artists, along with three familiar Human Race artists – Marilyn Klaben, Katie Pees and Scott Stoney.
