his own unique “voice” in

CONVENIENCE (2003-04) and FIVE COURSE LOVE (2007-08)

and created the underscoring for our productions of

A CHRISTMAS CAROL (2009 & 2010)
THE DRAWER BOY (2004-05) and PROOF (2003-04)

right next to me was developed in our Musical Theatre Workshops program this past season and we are extremely pleased and proud to give this new work its first full staging this Spring.

His incidental music for SLAVS! at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto won Canada’s 2001 Dora Award (Toronto’s Tony). He is the recipient of numerous NEA Creativity Grants. Mr. Coffin was raised in Yarmouth, Maine. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College and his Master of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Inc., the American Federation of Musicians Local 12 and Actor’s Equity. THE CAST

JAMIE CORDES (Major David Marshall, USMC) Jamie is excited about this newest adventure with The Human Race Theatre. HRT performances include: Jason in Ordinary Days, the Duke/Dr. Carrasco in Man of La Mancha, Sam in Wait Until Dark, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm in A Little Night Music, Mr. Phillips in Green Gables, and several Musical Theatre Workshop productions. Other regional theatre performances have included: Maximilian in Candide with Dayton Opera, Gaston Lachaille in Gigi with Rockwell Productions, Man 1 in Oh, Coward! with Ohio Shakespeare Festival, James Livingston in a revival production of The New Yorkers with Seaside Music Theatre and Frederick Fellowes in Noises Off with Theatre on the Hill. MARIA COUCH (Jen Marshall) Maria is happy to be making her debut at The Human Race Theatre Company. She was most recently seen in the Lincoln Center 3 off-Broadway production of On the Levee (Petulia). She has toured nationally with Maury Yeston's Phantom (Christine) and The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Christine) with Michael Bolton. Favorite regional credits include Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey) at Stages St. Louis, Sweeney Todd (Johanna) at Baltimore Center Stage, Side Show (Violet) at The Gorilla Theater, Les Miserables (Fantine) at Arkansas Rep and Illyria (Olivia) at The Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey. DANA MIERLAK (Trish Holmes) Dana, a native New Yorker, is honored to perform in right next to me. Dana recently co-wrote, produced and performed a two-person show, As We Stumble Along. Credits include: Crissy/understudy Connecticut Critics Circle award-winning production of Hair, Side By Side By Sondheim, Miranda in The Tempest, Katie in Swingtime Canteen. Dana can be heard on Sondheim Solos and other Stage Stars recordings. She is grateful to family and friends for their endless support. Special thanks to her manager, Susan Campochiaro Confrey. JIM POULOS (Captain Michael Marshall, USMC) Jim is excited to be back at Human Race, where he was last seen as Vince in Gregg Coffin's Convenience. Broadway: Mark Cohen in Rent; Huck Finn in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. National Tours: Little Shop of Horrors, The Graduate, and South Pacific. Off-Broadway/London: Paradise Found (Menier Chocolate Factory directed by Hal Prince and Susan Stroman); Illyria (Prospect Theater Company); My Life With Albertine (Playwrights Horizons). MELISSA RAIN ANDERSON (Director) Melissa is happy to be back at The Human Race Theatre Co. where she previously directed the workshop of right next to me and appeared as Young Liz in Gregg Coffin's Convenience. Melissa's recent production of The Marvelous Wonderettes at Stages Repertory Theatre in Houston enjoyed three extensions and played for a total of 35 weeks. Last summer, Melissa assisted Hal Prince on the world premiere of the new musical Paradise Found at The Menier Chocolate Factory in London starring Mandy Patinkin. In New York, she has directed John and Jen for Yellow Line Theatricals and Roads Travelled at the Duplex. Regionally, Melissa directed the West Coast premiere of right next to me at the B St. Theatre in California, Five Course Love at Stages Rep., Side by Side by Sondheim at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford, CT., Seussical at Rochester Children's Theatre and Melissa served as Associate Director for A Christmas Story at Geva Theatre Center '08 and '09. Upcoming: The Marvelous Wonderettes at The Oregon Cabaret Theatre, The Fantasticks at The Great River Shakespeare Festival in Winona, MN., and Next to Normal at Stages Rep.
