General Auditions – Young Actors

Young actor auditions for 2014-2015 will be announced at a later date.

General Auditions – Adults (Ages 18+)

Dayton, Ohio — Plays and Musicals
  Saturday, June 21 (11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) Plays ONLY
  Friday, June 27 (4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) Musicals or Both (Accompanist provided)
  Saturday, June 28 (11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) Musicals or Both (Accompanist provided)

To schedule an audition in Dayton for the 2014-2015 season:
Appointment calls will be accepted on or after Wednesday, June 11.

To schedule an audition in Chicago for the 2014-2015 season:
Actors’ Equity Association members: Appointment calls will be accepted at the AEA office the week before the audition date. Check the AEA website for additional info.

Non-Equity actors: Appointment calls will be accepted on and after Tuesday, April 1. (Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang (presented as part of the Victoria Theatre Association’s Broadway Season)
Musical Theatre Workshops Titles and dates TBA (Workshop Contract)
Marsha Hanna New Play Workshop Title and dates TBA (Workshop Contract)
#Othello adapted by Aaron Vega from William Shakespeare’s Othello In-School Touring production in the fall (Non-Equity only. Daytime commitment.)

The Human Race Theatre Company is a professional theatre that works under a Small Professional Theatre Contract (SPT 6) and performs in The Loft Theatre, a 212-seat thrust stage.

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will be performed under a Letter of Agreement to LORT D Contract at The Victoria Theatre, a 1100-seat proscenium.

Rehearsals are primarily Monday – Friday evenings, and daytime on weekends.

Auditions are open to Non-Equity and Equity actors (unless otherwise noted), with Non-Equity actors having the opportunity to join the Equity Membership Candidacy Program.

 

Procedures for Adult auditions (Dayton and Chicago):

Plays only: Come prepared with 2 one-minute contrasting monologues in the style of the show(s) or from the show(s) you are interested in OR 1 two-minute monologue tailored toward the specific show you are interested in.

Musicals only: Come prepared with 1 song of up to 32 bars of music in the style of the show(s) or from the show you are interested in. Be prepared with a 2nd song in the event the producer asks to see more. Bring your sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella singing or recorded music.

Both: Come prepared with 1 one-minute monologue and 1 song (up to 32 bars) in the style of the show(s) or from the show you are interested in. Bring your sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella singing or recorded music.

Actors will be auditioning for Kevin Moore, Producing Artistic Director, and Tara Lail, Managing Director.
