MORGAN GRAHAME (Ms. Poppenghul) Morgan is excited to make her debut with The Human Race Theatre Company in Moonlight And Magnolias. For the past two summers she has performed nearby in the outdoor drama, Blue Jacket as Clearwater. Morgan received her initial acting and dance training from Heartwood in the Hills and she holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia. She has worked professionally as actor, dancer, choreographer and is also a recognized Actor Combatant with the SAFD. Her love belongs to the powerful medium of theatre and her parents.

 

 
   

TIM LILE (Ben Hecht) Tim, a Resident Artist with The Human Race, holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Ohio University. Human Race audiences may remember his performances in The Underpants, The Odd Couple, Spinning Into Butter, Resident Alien, Art, Trip To Bountiful, On Golden Pond, The Beauty Queen Of Leenane and Picasso At The Lapin Agile. You may also remember him as the emcee for Sing-A-Long-Sound-Of-Music. If none of those ring a bell, you may recognize him as that auctioneer guy. He is an Ohio State Bid-Calling Champion, President of Innovative Auctions, Inc., and a Real Estate Auctioneer with Prudential Residenz, Realtors. “I would like to thank my girls, Beth, Lauren and Grace for letting me come out and play. I am honored to be a member of this company and perform for you this evening. Thank you for coming to theater.”

 

 
   

RICHARD MARLATT (Victor Fleming) played “Versati” in The Underpants two seasons ago here at HRTC. This summer he was “Harold” in The Full Monty and “Evelyn” in Anything Goes at Little Theatre on the Square. Regional credits: “Henry” – Syncopation (Meadow Brook Theatre), “Torvald” – A Doll’s House (Madison Repertory), “Jules” - Sunday In The Park . . . (with Patti LuPone at Ravinia), “Petruchio” - Taming Of The Shrew (Nebraska Shakespeare), “Tateh” in Ragtime, “Don Quixote”, “Hamlet”, “Falstaff”, “Scrooge”, “Dracula”, coast-to-coast tours, and roles with The Goodman, Actors’ Theatre of Louisville, Marriott Theatre, and Boarshead, among others. Based in Chicago, Richard is an Associate Artist at Chicago Dramatists and a Company Member with Shaw Chicago.


 
   

CHRISTOPHER SAPIENZA (David O. Selznick) Thrilled to be making his debut at HRTC, this marks Chris’ breakaway performance from musical theatre. Theatre Credits:Closer Than Ever, Personals, Ragtime, Jekyll And Hyde, Children Of Eden (American Prem.), Sunday In The Park…, Jaques Brel Is Alive And Well, Crazy For You, The Dinosaur Musical (World Prem.), Disney Cruise Line just to name a few. Theatres Worked: The Arden Theatre, The Prince Music Theatre, Fulton Opera House, Walnut Street Theatre, Bristol Riverside Theatre, Act II Playhouse and HRTC! Back up vocals for Linda Eder’s Christmas Concert at the Keswick Theatre. TV:Law and Order – SVU. Film:Unbreakable, Twelve Monkeys, In Her Shoes. Numerous commercial/voice over work. RON HUTCHINSON(Playwright) Ron Hutchison’s latest theatre work includes Rat In The Skull (revival, Duke of York’s Theatre 1995); an adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov’s Flight at the National Theatre 1997; Burning Issues, Hampstead Theatre Club 1999; Beau!, Theatre Royal, Bath, national tour and Haymarket, Leicester Square 2001; Lags, national tours 2002-03; Believers, for Playbox Young People’s Theatre, 2003; Head/Case, Royal Shakespeare Company 2004; Moonlight And Magnolias, Goodman Theatre, Chicago 2004 and Manhattan Theatre Club 2005. Mr. Hutchinson lives in Los Angeles where he is a writer/producer for features and television. Winner of an Emmy for Ben Kingsley’s “Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story,” 1989, his latest projects include “Traffic,” nominated for three Emmys in 2004 and rewrites on Fox Pictures’ remake of “Flight of the Phoenix,” to be released 2005.

MARSHA HANNA (Director/Producer) has been the Artistic Director of The Human Race since 1990 and has been a resident director here since its founding in 1986. She has produced more than 50 shows for the company including many regional premieres. Her direction for the company includes Every Good Boy Deserves Favour in collaboration with The Dayton Philharmonic at the Schuster Center, as well as A Christmas Carol, I Hate Hamlet and The Odd Couple at the Victoria Theatre. Other Human Race offerings include: Copenhagen, Crimes of the Heart, The Dazzle, Art, Three Days of Rain, Closer Than Ever, I Hate Hamlet, Three Tall Women, Cloud Nine, Fool for Love and The Elephant Man . She has guest directed for The Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis, Weathervane Playhouse, La Commedia Dinner Theatre and the Johnny Appleseed outdoor drama. She has also served as associate faculty member at Sinclair Community College, Wittenberg College and the University of Dayton, where she recently directed You Can’t Take It With You as well as The Elephant Man at the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. Marsha is a member of The Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.

DAN GRAY (Scenic Designer) happily re-joins the Human Race for this production of Moonlight & Magnolias. Other recent HRTC credits include EGBDF with the Dayton Philharmonic, The Spitfire Grill, I Hate Hamlet, W;t, All My Sons, Taking Sides & True West. Dan’s other regional theatre credits include numerous designs for The George Street Playhouse, Capital Rep, Players Theatre Columbus, the Delaware Theatre Company and CATCO. He also designs for many Central Ohio companies including BalletMet, Opera Columbus, The Dayton Ballet, Red Herring Theatre Company, The Columbus Symphony, Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra and The Columbus Zoo. Dan is the Resident Scenic Designer, Associate Professor and Head of Design/Tech at The Ohio State University Department of Theatre.

DAVID COVACH (Costume Designer) David has been with Asolo Repertory Theatre for 12 seasons, first as a Designer/Draper and currently as Costume Shop Manager, a position he has held for 7 years. In addition to making sure that all areas of costume production run smoothly, David is also a freelance designer and performer as well. David’s most recent designs for The Human Race Theatre Company include The Underpants and Green Gables, which each earned him a prestigious DayTONY Award for Excellence in Costuming. Throughout his career he has designed over 100 productions and worked on over 100 productions more. He has worked in all levels of theatre from the Community Theatre Stage to the Broadway Stage and appreciates the uniqueness of each opportunity. Some of David’s work can be seen at the Motown Café in New York, as well as Sony headquarters in Japan, and the LBJ library in Texas.

JOHN RENSEL (Lighting Designer) is the president and co-founder of The Light Fantastic. John has designed productions for Victoria Theatre Association, Dayton Playhouse, Dayton Theatre Guild, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, The Muse Machine, Fraze Pavilion and Northeast Regional Ballet Festivals. He is also the resident lighting designer for The Human Race, as well as Kettering Children’s Theatre and Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra Pops.

MARCIE ANN FRIEDMAN (Production Stage Manager)Moonlight And Magnolias marks Marcie’s first show with The Human Race, and her first show in Dayton! Marcie comes to Ohio from Philadelphia where favorite past productions include two seasons with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, and: Psychopathia Sexualis (Montgomery Theater), Yemaya’s Belly, Jack And The Beanstalk: An American Panto, The Member Of The Wedding, The O’Conner Girls, Sleeping Beauty, The Miser, (People’s Light & Theatre Company), Inventing Van Gogh (Act II Playhouse), and Permanent Collection (InterAct Theatre Company).
