THE HUMAN RACE THEATRE COMPANY HOLDS ITS THIRD ANNUAL
“JOIN THE RACE!” 5K RUN/WALK ON MAY 20

(Dayton, OH) – May 1, 2006 – The Human Race Theatre Company is holding its third annual “Join the Race!” 5K Run/Walk fundraising event on Saturday, May 20, 2006. Presented in cooperation with Five Rivers MetroParks, “Join the Race!” is open to runners and walkers of all ages. The event starts at 9:00 a.m., with registration from 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. The route begins at downtown’s RiverScape MetroPark’s recreational trail at 111 East Monument Street, and travels east to the pedestrian bridge connecting to Deeds Point, then travels north to Island MetroPark, using the loop around the park and back the same route to finish at RiverScape Metropark. The Human Race is providing live entertainment at the post-race award ceremony to be held at the Loft Theatre. Awards go to the top three runners in each age group and all adult participants receive a complimentary ticket to a Human Race play in the upcoming 2006-2007 Loft Series season, a $31 value.

Participants can register on May 20 at The Human Race Theatre Company at 126 North Main Street downtown Dayton, or register early online at www.active.com or by downloading a registration form at www.humanracetheatre.org/5k. Early Registration forms are due by May 12. Early Registration fees are $15 for adults, $10 for children 17 and under. Race Day Registration fees are $20 for adults, $15 for children 17 and under.

All participants who register early receive a free “Join the Race!” T-shirt.

New to this year’s race is a special “Group Prize.” The organization entering the largest team wins a pizza party at the Dayton’s Original Pizza Factory’s new dine-in location on 1301Wayne Avenue.

The Human Race Theatre Company’s “Join the Race!” 5K Run/Walk is sponsored by the Kettering College of Medical Arts, Cardiology Specialists of Dayton, Coolidge Wall Company, LPA, Crystal Water Company, Endurance Sports, Grub Steak Restaurant, Massage Works of Dayton, Mike-Sell’s Potato Chip Company, Dayton’s Original Pizza Factory, Reiber Cleaners and Spin City Laundry.

Founded in 1986, The Human Race Theatre Company moved to the Metropolitan Arts Center in 1991, taking up residence at The Loft, a 219-seat theatre. In addition to the Humana Loft Series 1, produced in collaboration with the Victoria Theatre Association, The Human Race produces the Humana Loft Series 2, the Musical Theatre Workshop series and special event programming. The Human Race, under the direction of Artistic Director Marsha Hanna and Executive Director Kevin Moore, also maintains educational outreach programs for children six to eighteen, guest artists and artist residencies in area schools, The Muse Machine In-School Tour, Youth Summer Stock and The Human Race Conservatory.
