THE HUMAN RACE
DAYTON’S PROFESSIONAL THEATRE COMPANY
BRINGS MUSICAL COMEDY FEAST TO THE LOFT
DAYTON, OH - May 28- Five restaurants, five types of cuisine, five types of music to match the food, five dates that go so disastrously, hilariously wrong that a Mafia hit is the least of the problems – that’s Five Course Love, coming to The Loft Theatre June 12 – 22.

Audiences will find themselves stuffed with belly laughs after they follow the action through Dean’s Old-Fashioned All-American Down-Home Bar-B-Que Texas Eats, La Trattoria Pericolo, Der Schlupfwinkel Speiseplatz, Ernesto’s Cantina, and the Star-Lite Diner.
Gregg Coffin, whose Convenience was a big hit for The Human Race in 2004, wrote the book, lyrics, and music for Five Course Love, inspired by a friend’s tales of speed dating. “We were laughing so loud,” says Coffin, “it put an idea into my head of how it would be even worse if you were eating.”
Not only did Coffin add food, he created music to match the menu of each setting – from country to opera. The formula led to success Off-Broadway and around the country.

Five Course is directed by Human Race Resident Artist Joe Deer, head of musical theatre at Wright State. Deer has directed such Human Race crowd pleasers as Seussical the Musical and Big River.
Three performers make the journey from eatery to eatery, changing characters and costumes as they go, ending up as anything from a nerd to a dominatrix.
The lone female in the cast is Human Race Artist Katie Pees, most recently seen at The Loft in her one-woman show, Dayton’s Divine Miss P. The Oakwood High grad has recently appeared locally in Seussical and Harold And Maude.
One of the male actors is Wright State alum Aaron Vega, who was just in The Human Race production of Shenandoah at The Victoria. He has performed in The Loft in shows ranging from Seussical to The Tempest.
The other male is New York-based Nick Verina, also a Wright State alum, who has been in Human Race productions of Was and Green Gables. Verina was most recently in Altar Boyz in Chicago and the national tour of Forbidden Broadway:SVU. Verina is on the soon-to-be-released original Off-Broadway cast album of That Time of the Year.
Sponsors for Five Course Love are One Call Now, The Producers’ Circle, Bohn Associates, and the Moore Family Fund, with additional support from the Miami Valley Restaurant Association..
Tickets are available via www.humanracetheatre.org or from Ticket Center Stage at (937) 228-3630 or (888) 228-3630.

Founded in 1986, The Human Race Theatre Company presents universal themes that explore the human condition and startle us all into a renewed awareness of ourselves. The Human Race, under the direction of Artistic Director Marsha Hanna and Executive Director Kevin Moore, also maintains educational outreach programs for children and adults, guest artists and artist residencies in area schools, The Muse Machine In-School Tour, Youth Summer Stock and The Human Race Conservatory. The new Caryl D. Philips Creativity Center of The Human Race opened in January 2006 to provide a space for extensive theatre education classes and workshops.
