THE HUMAN RACE THEATRE COMPANY WELCOMES NEW
MEMBERS TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES
(Dayton, OH) – July 1 – The Human Race Theatre Company welcomes eight new members to its 2005 – 2006 board of trustees. Each trustee is elected to serve a two-year renewable term. The new board members include: Lois Bigler, retired nurse with the Ohio Department of Health; Dr. Martha Moody Jacobs, MD, retired physician of internal medicine; Julie Liss-Katz, director of public affairs at Premier Health Partners; Edd McGatha, director of facilities at Children’s Medical Center; Beth Schaeffer, attorney and senior development officer at the Dayton Foundation; Sonu Singhvi, owner of the Elizabeth Diamond Company; and Judge Frederick Young, retired appellate judge. Also joining the board is Jack King, president and principal of Element IV Interiors. Mr. King is a special appointee from the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Dayton program.
The board of trustees has elected its new officers to serve for one-year terms. Elected as president is David P. Pierce, litigation attorney with Coolidge, Wall, Womsley and Lombard. The vice-president is the Reverend Dr. George H. “Sandy” McConnel, pastor and head of staff at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The secretary is Steve Sidlo, managing editor of the Dayton Daily News. And serving as treasurer is Jo Ann Beckmann, tax principal with Battelle and Battelle, LLP.
Departing board members include: Charles Abramovitz, Cathie Bieser Black, James Goubeaux, Anne Johnson, Elaine Zimmers Johnson, Carol V. Siyahi-Hicks and Sara G. Wieland. The Human Race is grateful for their service and looks forward to their continued support.
The Human Race Theatre Company receives organizational support from Culture Works, Montgomery County and The Shubert Foundation. The Ohio Arts Council helps fund The Human Race Theatre Company with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

Founded in 1986, The Human Race Theatre Company moved to the Metropolitan Arts Center in 1991, taking up residence at The Loft, a 219-seat theatre. In addition to the Humana Loft Series 1, produced in collaboration with the Victoria Theatre Association, The Human Race produces the Humana Loft Series 2, the Musical Theatre Workshop series and special event programming. The Human Race, under the direction of Artistic Director Marsha Hanna and Executive Director Kevin Moore, also maintains educational outreach programs for children six to eighteen, guest artist and artist residencies in area schools, The Muse Machine In-School Tour, Youth Summer Stock and The Human Race Conservatory.
