THE HUMAN RACE LAUNCHES “SINGLES NIGHT AT THE RACE” MIXER EVENT WITH FEBRUARY 12 PERFORMANCE OF THE DRAWER BOY
(Dayton, OH) – January 18 – The
Human Race Theatre Company, in conjunction with Culture Works and Single Source
News, announces “Singles Night at The Race,” a social mixer event for area
singles, to be held on February 12. For a discounted price, singles are invited
to enjoy a pre-show cocktail party with appetizers and a cash bar before
attending the evening performance of the award-winning play, The Drawer Boy.
The event begins at 7:00 PM in the lobby of the Loft Theatre at 126 North Main
Street, downtown Dayton.
Admission to “Singles Night at The Race” is by advance registration only.
Interested singles can call Culture Works at (937) 222-2787 to sign up or for
more information. Deadline for registration is Monday, February 7.
“We’re excited by the prospect,” says Denise Rehg, president and CEO of Culture
Works. “There are not very many events in the local arts scene geared directly
towards singles, who are an overwhelmingly cultured and eager audience. We
believe that ‘Singles Night’ will provide them with a long overdue opportunity
to mingle while sharing a memorable experience at the theatre.”
“The great thing about ‘Singles Night’,” adds Human Race marketing director
Steven Box, “is that you don’t have the pressures that often come with other
mixers. You don’t have to be an impressive dancer and you don’t have to sell
yourself in four minutes or less. It’s a stress-free environment. And with
The Drawer Boy being such a humorous and touching play, we know the audience
will have a wonderful time.”
The Human Race Theatre is already looking at dates for more “Singles Night at
The Race” events during the 2005-2006 season.
Part of the 2004-2005 Humana Loft Series 2, Michael Healey’s award-winning play,
The Drawer Boy, was named by Time Magazine as one of the ten best
plays of 2001. Having played to sold-out houses in Louisville, Cincinnati and
Indianapolis last season, The Drawer Boy makes its Dayton premiere on
January 27, with performances through February 13. It stars The Human Race
Theatre Company resident artists Michael Kenwood Lippert and Bruce Cromer and
University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music graduate Justin Schultz.
Long-time resident artist Richard E. Hess directs.
