Series I: Understanding Shakespeare

Learn to love the language of Shakespeare by discovering the many clues he placed in the text of his plays. Awareness of these clues can make his work simpler, easier to understand and thus easier to perform.
Series II: Speaking Shakespeare
October 18 – November 15, 2005

Making Shakespearian text sound natural and convey meaning is a complex skill. Explore techniques with experts in the field and discover how to speak the Bard’s words with beauty and ease.
Series III: Getting the Job: Audition Techniques
January 10 – February 7, 2006
Instructors: Marsha Hanna, Kevin Moore, Scott Stoney, Katie Pees, guest artists
Learn successful audition techniques from some of the area’s leading theatre artists. Find out how to select a photographer and what makes a perfect headshot. Create a great resume and select the right audition material. Finally, audition for a New York City casting director and get professional feedback.
Series IV: “Viewpoints”
February 28 – March 28, 2006

Developed by Anne Bogart and the Saratoga International Theatre Institute (SITI), “Viewpoints” offers a new way for actors and directors to collaborate and develop the act of acting through the natural principles of movement, time and space.
Series V: Music Reading for Actors
April 18 – May 16, 2006
Instructor: Scott Stoney
This is a crash course in reading music and ear training for actors wanting to improve their skills in musical performance. Learn to identify the basic intervals that make up all songs. Become a better musician and increase overall confidence.
