SUMMER STOCK KIDS 2012

Jene Rebbin ShawDirected by Adventures In Theatre instructor Jene Rebbin Shaw, Summer Stock Kids is a summer theatre camp which culminates in a production that is totally produced by Jene and the kids - sets, costumes and props. And considering that the kids are ages 8 – 12 the challenges are great but oh, so rewarding for the young performers as well as family and friends. This year Jene has selected:

KING MIDAS AND THE TOUCH OF GOLD.

This play is a faithful adaptation of the popular myth which teaches that money and wealth can't buy you happiness.  King Midas is a powerful ruler who only thinks of his gold.  His daughter Princess Penelope is having a birthday, and noble guests come from near and far, including the handsome Prince Ajax, who loves Penelope.  Three mystical sisters present the princess with a gift of one wish and Penelope lovingly gives her gift to her father.  He uses his wish to receive "The Golden Touch" and the result is not a pretty sight.  Lessons are painfully learned as King Midas realizes his error and is punished for his greed.

SummerStock KIDS is sponsored by Ted and Sandy Tozer.
Scholarships are available and provided by the Frank M. Tait Foundation.
